Koel Sen did her Post Graduate Diploma in Social Communications Media (Mass Com.) from Sophia College Polytechic, Mumbai and then completed her Masters Diploma in Film Directing from the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) with her film VALAY (Circle), a 26 minute Marathi short fiction. In 2017, her short documentary BAHAVA (Printed Gods), won the Emerging Talent - Honorable Mention at the International Association of Women in Film, Radio and Television (IAWRT). Her short film ADHAR (Stasis) was screened at many Indian short film festivals and in 2016, she won a scholarship to study Documentary Cinema at La Fémis, (Institut des hautes études cinématographiques, IDHEC) Paris.

She is currently faculty of Film Direction at the Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. She is also working on her first feature film script.
