Since passing out of the institute in 1992, he has been involved as an editor, director, writer and consultant in cinema, television and corporate films in Kolkata, Mumbai and Jakarta, Indonesia.
As an editor he has more than 100 documentary films and news stories to his credit and has also directed many fiction episodes and television serials for Bengali channels. As a writer he has one Hindi, one Bengali and two Oriya feature films to his credit, apart from writing extensively for fiction shows for Hindi satellite channels and Indonesian television.
He writes a weekly column on cinema entitled ‘Screen Savour’ for Financial Chronicle newspaper for the last five years and is a regular contributor to upperstall.com, a serious website dedicated to Indian cinema. He also conducts filmmaking and screenplay writing workshops in different parts of the country and teaches regularly at private film schools, including Digital Film Academy, Mumbai and Whistling Woods International, Mumbai where he is a Visiting Faculty. He has also been a guest lecturer at FTII and SRFTI, Kolkata.
